| In a 1984 double blind study, a group of people diagnosed
with simple phobia were divided into 2 groups. The first group (the
control group) was asked to "imagine pleasant scenes" during 2 sessions.
The second group was also treated for 2 sessions, using a set of
powerful new techniques (you'll learn these techniques in The Phobia
Self-Help Book). THESE 2 SESSIONS LASTED LESS THAN AN HOUR EACH. Here is a
synopsis; "The new treatment was demonstrated to be effective in reducing phobic behavior and subjective distress, and was superior to the control condition in improving approach behavior and in reducing fear, discomfort and the intensity of a wide range of symptoms." A quote; "Treatment outcome compared favorably with more conventional treatments..."
In the use of another technique these results were found during a 1987 study: "There were significant differences (p<.05) in the participants' ratings of "change as a result of treatment" in favor of the new procedure."
Here is another quote from a 1988 study involving techniques you'll
learn in the book... |
